MARIFER ECHEVERRI ALEGRE

Marifer is a student at the University of Southern California, persuing her Bachelor of Architecture at the USC School of Architecture. As a student at USC she has maintained a Presidential Scholarship for five years in addition to being a Questbridge Scholar, USC Honors Student, a National HIspanic Recognition Program Scholar, a Trojan Scholar, a recipient of the Arthur O'Leary Scholarship, and an HACU Lanzate Scholar.

Her studies at USC include a minor in Art History at the USC School of Letters and Sciences, Dornsife where she has had the opportunity to research art history alongside her studies in architecture and how it impacts our day to day life. Her fifth year architecture thesis involves the future of art museums in the wake of digital art, NFTs, and social justice scrutiny that occurred during the pandemic.

She holds over 3,000 hours of AXE experience within the IPAL program, in route to be a licensed architect under the supervision of Alvirez Architecture, EXIGO Architecture, and EYRC. Where she worked designing and aiding in designing retail, restaurants, museums, and civil projects.

Her interests primarily lie in adaptive reuse and universal design for accessibility. Believing that creating spaces that do not serve disabled individuals is unsustainable and shortsighted when designers should be creating a built environment that transcends generations and considers the phases of each of these generations' lives.
