PITCH VILLAGE, COMMUNITY CENTER IN LEIMERT PARK

Set in Leimert Park, this project is a community center that includes three full sized basketball courts, gym facilities, exhibition space, classrooms, and dining areas. ​

The studio was focused on structural solutions to these long span programs, so a unique truss was designed to cater to this. The truss works like a reverse truss, with the supporting columns pushed further into the truss, creating an overhang that allows for the roofs to overlap and interact to create unique spaces throughout the project. 

This pitch village that is created with these overlapping structures creates an interweaving public space that breaks down the massive space required for the program.
